Himanta Biswa Sarma launches multiple schemes in Guwahati to support youth with financial aid, research grants, higher education, and skill development.

Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on February 26, unveiled a series of transformative initiatives aimed at empowering Assam’s youth. The programs provide financial support, research grants, higher education assistance, and skill development opportunities to help students and fresh graduates build successful careers.

Under the Jibon Prerana scheme, 48,319 fresh graduates will receive Rs 2,500 per month for 12 months to support their career pathways, competitive exam preparation, and self-employment efforts. Meanwhile, the Jibon Anuprerana initiative provides one-time grants to 2,112 researchers. The scholars will receive one-time grants of Rs 25,000 for general researchers and Rs 40,000 for Divyang researchers.

The Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Asoni (MMNBA) scheme will benefit 47,395 first-year undergraduate and postgraduate students by offering monthly financial assistance, helping prevent dropout due to economic hardship. In addition, the state government, in collaboration with Tata Technologies, has virtually launched 31 advanced Industry 4.0 Centres across ITIs and polytechnics to equip youth with modern manufacturing and automation skills.

The Chief Minister emphasised that these initiatives represent a major step toward building a skilled, self-reliant, and Viksit Assam by 2047, ensuring that every deserving student and young professional receives the support needed to thrive in education and employment.
