Rs 36 crore scheme delivers treated drinking water, 3,865 tap connections and expanded pipeline network in Udalguri

Udalguri: Strengthening urban infrastructure and ensuring access to safe drinking water, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the Tangla Town Water Supply Project (Phases I & II) under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 in Udalguri district.
Built at a cost of Rs 36 crore, the project features a 5.6 MLD Water Treatment Plant, two elevated service reservoirs with a capacity of 700 kilolitres each, 3,865 new household tap connections, and a 50-km pipeline network. The system is designed to ensure a consistent supply of treated drinking water to residents across Tangla.
Officials said the project will significantly improve water availability, quality, sanitation standards and overall public health, addressing long-standing gaps in civic services.
The inauguration marks another step in the state government’s efforts to modernise urban amenities and strengthen essential infrastructure in towns across Assam.
