Over 42,000 women beneficiaries received Rs 10,000 each as the state accelerated its push for inclusive, grassroots entrepreneurship

Digboi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday distributed the Seed Fund under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) in Digboi and Mahmora, marking another significant step in the state’s mission to promote women-led economic growth.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering women at the grassroots by providing them with the initial financial support required to start or strengthen small enterprises. Under the scheme, more than 42,000 women beneficiaries received Rs 10,000 each, aimed at fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.

The Chief Minister stated that empowered women form the backbone of a resilient and progressive Assam, adding that schemes like MMUA are designed to ensure that economic opportunities reach every household. He reiterated that the government envisions an Atal, Agragami, Avichal Assam, built on the strength, entrepreneurship, and determination of its women.
The distribution programme in Digboi and Mahmora is part of a larger statewide rollout of MMUA, which seeks to nurture women entrepreneurs by enabling them to turn small ideas into viable income-generating ventures. The initiative has been widely seen as a key driver of inclusive growth and social transformation across Assam.
