284 civil service recruits, 5 forensic officers appointed; CM stresses fairness and merit in governance

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on March 4, ceremonially distributed appointment letters to 289 successful candidates of the APSC (State Civil Services) exam and allied departments. He urges the recruits to uphold fairness, honesty and public service.
The appointment letters were handed over at the Sri Sri Damodardev International Auditorium in Guwahati. Of the total, 284 candidates were selected through the Combined Competitive Examination 2024 for the Assam Civil Service (Junior Grade) and allied services. While five were appointed as Scientific Officers in the Directorate of Forensic Science.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister called on the newly inducted officers to institutionalise integrity and serve citizens with sincerity to help achieve the goal of a “Viksit Assam.”
He said the swift distribution of appointment letters within two weeks of the declaration of results reflects the government’s commitment to transparent and merit-based recruitment. With the latest appointments, the state has provided 1,58,380 government jobs since 2021, significantly exceeding its earlier promise of one lakh jobs.

The Chief Minister added that the recruitment drive will continue, with more employment opportunities expected to open up after 2026.
On the occasion, mutual transfer letters were also issued through the Swagata Satirtha Portal 2.0, aimed at improving administrative efficiency and accountability.
