The Chief Minister said the fresh appointments reflect the state government’s continued commitment to fair, transparent and merit-based recruitment for empowering Assam’s youth.

Guwahati: Assam marked another milestone in its employment drive on February 11 as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ceremonially distributed appointment letters to 1,879 candidates at a programme in Guwahati. This takes the total number of government job appointments under the present dispensation to 1,58,373.
Of the newly appointed candidates, 1,694 were selected for various posts across the Public Works, Transport, Power and Water Resources departments, while 185 contractual appointments were made under the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM).
Among those present were Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Public Works Minister Jogen Mohan, Handloom and Textiles Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Information and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika, Agriculture Minister Krishnendu Paul, Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, and several other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister reiterated that the government remains steadfast in ensuring a clean, transparent and merit-based recruitment system, aimed at creating meaningful employment opportunities for the youth of the state.
Sharing the update on social media, the Chief Minister wrote, “1.5 lakh government jobs and beyond. Today, I distributed appointment letters to 1,879 candidates in various departments, who will now be able to serve Aai Asomi. With this, we have provided jobs to 1,58,373 candidates in Assam and will continue this journey in the coming days.”
The latest appointments further underline the state’s push towards strengthening governance while opening new avenues of opportunity for its young workforce.
