Assam CM Disburses Second CMAAA Installment To 12,900 Young Entrepreneurs

Himanta Biswa Sarma says beneficiaries who utilised the first Rs 1 lakh grant under Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan are now eligible for the final instalment.

Guwahati: The Assam government has distributed the second instalment of financial assistance under the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA) 1.0 to 12,900 young entrepreneurs with support ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh across the state.

Addressing the media after the event, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the scheme was launched in September 2023, when financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each was provided to 25,000 young men and women to start their own ventures.

According to the Chief Minister, the beneficiaries who successfully utilised the first instalment have now become eligible to receive the final instalment of Rs 1 lakh. However, around 13,000 beneficiaries are yet to complete the required process. The government has granted them an additional 90 days to properly utilise the initial assistance, after which they will also qualify for the final instalment.

The CM further stated that the programme has now been expanded to include 75,000 new beneficiaries. The government aims to eventually bring nearly 10 lakh youths under the initiative, depending on the performance of the first two batches.

Moreover, the CM added that agreements have already been signed with beneficiaries of Phase 1 and Phase 2. After entrepreneurs take business loans, the government will also provide interest support of about 1 percent to ease their financial burden.

The Chief Minister said the scheme will continue supporting young entrepreneurs from the early stage of their ventures until their enterprises become fully established.
