Assam CM Chairs Key Talks with Bodo Organisationat: Focus on Welfare Outside BTC

Guwahati: In a significant outreach to indigenous communities, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 19 chaired a series of meetings with representatives from 28 organisations of the Bodo community at the Assam Legislative Assembly, focusing on the welfare and development of Bodos residing outside the Bodoland Territorial Region.

The discussions centred on long-pending issues, socio-economic challenges, and aspirations of Bodo populations living in non-BTC areas. Community leaders raised concerns related to education, infrastructure, cultural preservation, and equitable access to government schemes.

Officials said the interaction aimed at ensuring that development initiatives reach all sections of the Bodo population, irrespective of geographical boundaries. The Chief Minister emphasised that the government remains committed to inclusive and balanced growth across Assam, with special attention to communities living outside designated autonomous regions.

The meeting is being viewed as another step in the government’s broader effort to strengthen trust, address regional disparities, and promote holistic development for Assam’s indigenous communities.
