Assam Brings Rs 3 Lakh Crore Investments to Ground After Advantage Assam 2.0

Government signs confirmation agreements with 69 business groups as investment proposals begin turning into projects

Guwahati: Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said the Government of Assam has begun converting a large share of investment proposals received during Advantage Assam 2.0 into projects on the ground. It marks significant progress in the state’s industrial push.

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said, “During Advantage Assam 2.0, we received proposals worth Rs 5.18 lakh crore. However, converting those proposals into actual investments was a major challenge for us”.

The CM further explained that the government had to ensure the availability of land, electricity and competitive policies to make Assam attractive compared to other investment destinations in India.

“Despite these challenges, today we have successfully brought Rs 3 lakh crore worth of investments to the ground level. Many of these projects have already begun work in their respective locations,” he said.

According to the Chief Minister, the state has also signed confirmation of investment agreements with 69 leading business groups, helping move projects from proposal stage to implementation.

“This success has come within just one year of Advantage Assam. Usually, investment summits are organised once every five years, but within months, we have already moved significantly ahead,” the CM asserted.

Highlighting the broader impact, he said a favourable investment environment could generate large-scale employment. “If these industries become fully operational, at least one lakh young people from Assam may find opportunities here without needing to leave the state,” he added. The Chief Minister stated that sustaining industrial growth would help Assam establish a stronger presence on India’s industrial map.
