Ceremonial distributions held across Margherita, Dhemaji, Jagiroad, and Dhubri mark major milestones in securing legal land ownership for indigenous families and institutions

Guwahati: The Assam government has reinforced its commitment to indigenous landless families and institutions by distributing land pattas, allotment, and settlement certificates under Mission Basundhara 3.0. Ceremonial events were held across the state, including North Margherita Rangamancha in Margherita, Dhemaji district, Jagiroad, and Dhubri, covering tens of thousands of beneficiaries.
In Margherita, 771 beneficiaries received pattas and settlement certificates, including 460 Namghars, institutions, schools & colleges, and 311 individual indigenous landless families. Margherita MLA Bhaskar Sharma praised the initiative and thanked the Chief Minister for prioritising land rights.
The central launch in Dhemaji covered 44,700 beneficiaries. It includes 538 families receiving digital pattas under SVAMITVA and forest rights in Jiadhal and Subansiri Reserved Forests. In Jagiroad, 572 families and 284 institutions received their certificates. Dhubri district saw 2,697 indigenous landless families granted legal land rights, alongside institutions, schools, and religious organisations.
In Sadiya, land pattas were distributed to residents of the unsurveyed Amarpur village. In addition to the foundation of electrification projects connecting char areas. Digital pattas issued to formerly non-cadastral villages under the SVAMITVA scheme leveraged drone technology, reducing boundary disputes and modernising records.
Officials highlighted that Mission Basundhara 3.0 strengthens tenure security. It also enables access to credit and welfare schemes. The prime aim is to ensures that no indigenous family in Assam remains without legal land ownership. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “We Promised, We Delivered.”
