Strategic posting across the border and sensitive district aim to strengthen law enforcement, border management and internal security
Itanagar: The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has transferred 27 senior officers from the Indian Police Service and Arunachal Pradesh Police Service cadres in a major reshuffle to strengthen security and policing across the frontier state.
The orders, issued by the Home Department late Sunday night and made public on Monday, affect several districts ranging from Tawang and Anjaw along the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) to urban centres such as Itanagar and Pasighat, as well as the insurgency-sensitive Tirap-Changlang-Longding belt.
Officials said Director General of Police Chukhu Apa Taku played a key role in finalising the list. The move is intended to introduce fresh leadership in key districts and improve coordination between the civil administration and police in remote and border areas.
Among the key postings, IPS officer Chinmoy Biswal has been designated as Inspector General of Police (Security/Crime), while Joy Tirkey has been given additional charge as DIG (Headquarters). IPS officer Mangesh will take over as DIG (TCL).
At the district level, Akshat Kausal has been appointed SP of Tirap, replacing Aditya Singh, who has been posted as SP of Longding. Shivendu Bhushan will now serve as SP of East Kameng.
Other appointments include Sandhya Swamy as SP of Kra Daadi, Pankaj Kumar as SP of Dibang Valley, Swati Singh as SP of Pakke Kesang, and Tasi Darang as SP of Tawang.
Officials said the reshuffle also aims to address emerging security challenges such as drug trafficking, illegal immigration, and tensions along the border. All officers have been directed to assume charge immediately.
