Arunachal CM Lays Foundation Stone for Modern Government Staff Quarters in Namsai

Project to replace NEFA-era buildings with 24 new residential units, aiming to improve staff welfare and strengthen district administration

Namsai: The foundation stone for a new Government Officers’ and Staff Quarters complex was laid in Namsai, marking a significant step towards upgrading administrative infrastructure and improving living conditions for government employees in the district.

Inaugurated by Pema Khandu along with other dignitaries, the project includes the construction of 24 modern Type–III residential units, designed to meet contemporary standards of comfort and functionality. In addition to the housing units, the development will include comprehensive site works such as internal cement concrete roads, designated parking spaces, a boundary wall, and a secure entry–exit gate, ensuring a well-planned and safe residential environment.

The new quarters will replace 12 ageing NEFA-era buildings, reflecting the state government’s broader policy of phasing out outdated infrastructure and replacing it with modern, efficient facilities. Officials said the initiative is part of a systematic effort to upgrade legacy structures that no longer meet present-day requirements for safety, space, and habitability.

By providing improved residential facilities, the project is expected to enhance the quality of life of government officers and staff posted in Namsai. Better housing, officials noted, contributes directly to improved morale and productivity, which in turn strengthens administrative efficiency and service delivery at the district level.

The initiative also underscores the government’s focus on long-term infrastructure planning, particularly in ensuring that public servants have access to dignified and functional living spaces. Once completed, the new quarters are expected to support smoother administrative operations and reinforce Namsai’s institutional capacity.

The project stands as another step in the state’s ongoing efforts to modernise governance infrastructure while preserving a forward-looking approach to development and public service delivery.
