Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu handed over Local Area Development Fund (LADF) cheques for the Pare Hydroelectric Project and the Panyor Lower Hydroelectric Project. The initiative aims to benefit the respective district administrations, Project Affected Families (PAFs) and local communities.
For the Pare HEP developed by NEEPCO Ltd, an amount of Rs 23.16 crore covering the period 2018–19 to 2024–25 was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Papum Pare District.
For the Panyor Lower HEP (405 MW), a total of Rs 10.25 crore has been released Rs 5.43 crore to Keyi Panyor District and Rs 4.82 crore to Papum Pare District. While the Panyor Lower HEP was commissioned before LADF provisions were introduced, the State Government, responding to public aspirations, has decided to provide 1% LADF from the State’s share of free power to support project-affected families.
This initiative reflects the government’s focus on welfare-oriented measures to ensure that local communities benefit from large infrastructure projects.
