New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday addressed the 79th Raising Day of the Delhi Police, unveiling major infrastructure and technology upgrades aimed at modernising policing and strengthening national security.
The Home Minister laid the e-foundation stone of the Special Cell’s integrated headquarters, built at a cost of Rs 368 crore. The facility will feature a state-of-the-art indoor firing range, war room, cyber lab, training hall, and other modern amenities, positioning it as the country’s most advanced hub for tackling narcotics, terrorism, and organised crime.

In addition, the first phase of the Rs 857 crore Safe City Project was inaugurated, including the modern Integrated Command, Control, Communication, and Computer Centre (C4I). Under this initiative, 2,100 of the planned 10,000 surveillance cameras in Delhi are live, while over 15,000 existing cameras have been integrated into the system. Shah said the project will significantly enhance real-time monitoring and security across the capital.

Calling 2014–2026 a “golden era” for internal security, the Home Minister said the focus remains on technology-driven policing and nationwide modernisation.
