Amit Shah to Lay Foundation Stone of Assam Legislative Assembly Complex in Dibrugarh

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Assam from January 29–30 will feature the foundation stone laying of the second Assam Legislative Assembly complex in Dibrugarh, cultural engagements in Dhemaji, political meetings in Guwahati; meanwhile, the MMUA drive continues in Ranganadi

Ranganadi: Following the MMUA seed capital distribution programme in Ranganadi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the media and spoke about the upcoming two-day visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the state.

The Assam Chief Minister informed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to visit Assam on January 29 and 30, during which he will lay the foundation stone of the new Assam Legislative Assembly complex in Dibrugarh. The upcoming complex will be the state’s second legislative assembly building, marking a significant step in strengthening Assam’s administrative infrastructure.

The Union Minister will arrive in Assam on January 29 and stay overnight in Dibrugarh. On January 30, he will formally inaugurate the foundation stone of the Assembly complex, along with attending a few other official engagements.

Following this, the Union Minister will travel to Dhemaji, where he is scheduled to attend the Mising Cultural Festival, highlighting the Centre’s outreach to indigenous communities and the cultural heritage of the state. Later in the evening, Amit Shah will reach Guwahati and visit the BJP state office, where he is expected to hold political discussions with party leaders. He will depart for West Bengal at around 7 pm, concluding his two-day visit to Assam.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma continued the state’s women-centric development drive under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA). Following the cheque distribution programme in Ranganadi, the Chief Minister informed that over 25,000 women beneficiaries received Rs.10,000 each as seed capital for entrepreneurship.

In total, 25,755 women in the Ranganadi Legislative Assembly Constituency were covered under the scheme. With this phase, the MMUA has now reached 96 constituencies and empowered more than 23.4 lakh women across Assam, reinforcing the government’s focus on women-led economic growth.
