Amit Shah Likely to Attend CRPF Anniversary Parade on February 21

Around 1,400 personnel, medals, tactical displays and top leadership presence to mark a landmark moment for the force in the Northeast

Guwahati: Guwahati is set to witness a historic first as the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) stages its anniversary parade in Assam for the very first time on February 21, signalling the paramilitary force’s growing operational and symbolic focus on the Northeast. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to attend the ceremony as the chief guest, lending national significance to the event.

Senior officials announced that nearly 1,400 personnel drawn from eight sectors will participate in the ceremonial parade, forming eight marching contingents along with bands and buglers. The celebrations will be held at Sarusajai Stadium, which will host both the Director General’s Parade and the main anniversary function.

Additional Director General (North East Zone) Rajiv Srivastava said the decision to hold the parade in Assam reflects the CRPF’s long-standing engagement in the region, particularly in maintaining internal security and supporting peace-building efforts. He described the event as recognition of the sacrifices and service of personnel deployed across challenging terrains.

A separate Director General’s Parade will be presided over by GP Singh, during which gallantry and distinguished service will be honoured. A total of 26 awards, including Distinguished Service Medals and trophies, will be presented, while dozens of additional medals and citations will recognise exemplary performance. The best Forward Operating Base in Naxal-affected areas will also receive special commendation.

Beyond the ceremonial march, the programme will feature live demonstrations of operational tactics and specialised capabilities, offering a glimpse into the force’s readiness across diverse theatres of deployment.

With top leadership, full ceremonial honours and large-scale participation, the anniversary parade is expected to underline both the CRPF’s operational strength and Assam’s growing strategic importance in India’s security landscape.
