The Union Home Minister inaugurated the two-day conference on tackling cyber-enabled frauds, launched the new CBI Cybercrime Branch and S4C dashboard, and urged all stakeholders to coordinate for a cybersecure India.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the National Conference on “Tackling Cyber-Enabled Frauds & Dismantling the Ecosystem” in New Delhi, organised by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The two-day conference aims to align all stakeholders under one umbrella and chart a roadmap to achieve Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a ‘Cybersecure India’.
The Union Minister presided over the investiture ceremony of CBI officers and inaugurated the new CBI Cybercrime Branch, alongside the launch of the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C) dashboard of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs. The event was attended by the Union Home Secretary, Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, CBI Director, and other senior officials.
India’s growing digital ecosystem was the highlight of the conference. Over 181 billion digital transactions in 2024, with 97–99% conducted digitally, and lauded financial inclusion progress with over 570 million Jan Dhan accounts and nearly 50 crore RuPay debit cards expected by December 2026. He emphasised that cyber security now forms a critical part of national security, and safeguarding economic, social, and administrative systems requires collective responsibility.

The Home Minister stressed the importance of coordination among I4C, CBI, NIA, RBI, state police forces, and other agencies. Since 2020, the I4C portal has recorded over 8.2 million cybercrime complaints, of which 184,000 became FIRs, and cyber frauds worth Rs 8,189 crore have been frozen or recovered. He urged banks to adopt the Mule Account Hunter software and police to strengthen the 1930 helpline for rapid response.
The conference also recognised exemplary service: the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (2025) and Police Medals for Meritorious Service were presented to several CBI officers, while the Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak-2024 was awarded for investigative excellence.
The meeting underlined that coordinated, timely, and technologically advanced action is essential to safeguard India’s cyber ecosystem and combat organised cybercrime effectively.
