Assam BJP expels 12 functionaries from Silchar Municipal Corporation wards over alleged violations of party discipline

Guwahati: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has expelled 12 party functionaries from its primary membership over alleged violations of party discipline.

The action was ordered by Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia, according to a party announcement. All 12 members are associated with different wards of the Silchar Municipal Corporation in Cachar district.

Those expelled include Dipu Sinha from Ward 2, Monika Mondal from Ward 4, Sandeep Dutta from Ward 6, Rathindranath Saha alias Madhav from Ward 11, Sangeeta Chakraborty from Ward 14 and Nripendra Narayan Thakur from Ward 19.

The list also includes Manisha Dey from Ward 21, Rakhi Chowdhury from Ward 31, Saheli Dey from Ward 38, Debashish Roy from Ward 39, Shiva Deb from Ward 40 and Anupama Das from Ward 10.

The party cited alleged indiscipline as the reason for the action but did not disclose specific details of the alleged violations. The expulsions come as the Assam BJP continues to enforce organisational discipline among its members.
