Meghalaya government says it is complying with High Court directions in the ongoing Byrnihat pollution case amid concerns over air quality
Byrnihat: The Meghalaya government has said it is complying with all directions issued by the Meghalaya High Court in the ongoing case concerning pollution in Byrnihat.
The High Court is hearing a public interest petition on the issue. Joram Beda, Commissioner and Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, said the matter is currently before the court and that the government is following its directions.
The statement comes amid continued concerns over poor air quality in Byrnihat and its potential impact on the health of residents.
Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla said the department has not received any written complaints from residents reporting respiratory problems linked to pollution. “As of now, we have not received any written complaint as such,” Shylla said.
The minister urged residents facing health concerns to formally bring the matter to the department’s attention so that appropriate action can be taken. The government’s clarification comes as pollution levels in Byrnihat and their possible health impacts continue to remain a concern.
