Guwahati Traffic Police has announced major diversions as the Athgaon Flyover and approach roads will remain closed from June 27 to June 29 for repair work

Guwahati: The Guwahati Traffic Police has announced extensive traffic restrictions and diversions in the Athgaon area as the Public Works Department (PWD) undertakes repair and rehabilitation work on the approaches of the Athgaon Road Over Bridge (ROB).
The repair work will be carried out from 11:00 pm on June 27 to 6:00 am on June 29, while traffic restrictions will remain in force from 10:00 pm on June 27 until 6:00 am on June 29, or until completion of the work.
The following will remain fully closed to all vehicles and pedestrians:
- Athgaon Road Over Bridge (ROB)
- Approach roads on both sides of the flyover
- Service/slip roads connecting both ends of the bridge
Traffic Diversions:
1. From Chatribari towards Bharalumukh
- Diverted at Himatsingka Petrol Pump
- Route: A.T. Road → Paltan Bazar
2. From Paltan Bazar via A.T. Road
- Diverted at Vishal Point
- Route: Panbazar Flyover → Motilal Nehru Road → M.G. Road
3. From Bhootnath towards M.G. Road/A.T. Road
- Diverted at Machkhowa Point
- Route: M.G. Road / B.R.P. Road / Dinesh Goswami Flyover
4. From RBI/Paltan Bazar Railway Station towards Bharalumukh
- Diverted at Vishal Point
- Route: Panbazar Flyover (Northern Side) → Motilal Nehru Road → M.G. Road
Traffic Police have warned that the closure is likely to cause congestion on adjoining roads and urged commuters to avoid the Athgaon stretch and use alternative routes during the period.
