Manipur Blast Fallout: Victim’s Family Seeks Justice Deadline as Protests Erupt Across State

Civil society groups rally against Tronglaobi attack; CM assures strict action as pressure mounts for arrests

Imphal: Anger and grief continue to intensify in Manipur after the deadly blast in Tronglaobi village of Bishnupur district, with the victims’ family demanding swift justice from the government.

Speaking at a hospital in Imphal, where the injured mother is undergoing treatment, family members urged authorities to arrest those responsible within five days. They said no compensation could replace the lives of the two children, a five-year-old and a five-month-old infant, killed in the explosion on April 7.

The family also highlighted the mother’s trauma. Doctors initially withheld the news due to her fragile condition, but she later learned about the deaths through a newspaper, worsening her distress.

Public outrage has spilled onto the streets. Protesters across the state organised rallies, burned tyres, and demanded immediate action. A major demonstration led by the All Manipur United Clubs Organisation saw large participation, including women and children holding placards.

Security forces intervened to control the march, but authorities later allowed a delegation to meet Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. During the meeting, civil society groups pressed for stronger measures to ensure public safety.

The Chief Minister called the incident deeply disturbing and assured strict action. He said the government is working closely with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to identify those involved and take legal steps.

Despite these assurances, residents continue to question the state’s security situation, keeping pressure on authorities to deliver justice swiftly.
