Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Key Reforms in Education, Employee Welfare, and Media Transparency

Cabinet greenlights reforms across education, employee welfare, finance, and media to strengthen governance and transparency

Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, approved a wide-ranging set of reforms. These reforms aimed at strengthening governance, boosting employee welfare, modernising administration and media frameworks, and advancing climate-resilient development. These measures will be tabled in the State Assembly session beginning March 6.

Five key initiatives were approved. The Arunachal Pradesh Transfer and Posting of Employees of Education Department (Regulation & Management) Bill, 2026, replacing the policy-based system with a statutory, technology-enabled mechanism linked to an automated teachers’ registry.

Other steps include structured recruitment rules for Physical Education Teachers, professorships for government college teachers under UGC 2018 regulations, amendments to Principal recruitment rules, 2012, and a revision of the state’s diploma and allied course reservation policy.

The Cabinet sanctioned pay parity and grade pay upgrades for key posts. These includes Charge-man of Civil Aviation and Inspectors in the Department of Cooperation. A total of 15 new posts under the Finance & Accounts Service Cadre were added. Moreover, 5 Senior Finance & Accounts Officers and 10 Finance & Accounts/Treasury Officers were approved.

The draft Arunachal Pradesh Press Accreditation Rules, 2025, were approved to ensure a transparent, accountable, and professional media framework. The Cabinet also launched the Pakke Declaration Implementation Report-2025, reviewing the Pakke Tiger Reserve-2047 roadmap. Of 410 action lines across 75 strategies, 246 are complete, 70 ongoing, 94 at initiation, with Rs 802.6 crore mobilised, demonstrating commitment to sustainable development.

Chief Minister Khandu highlighted that these measures reflect the government’s focus on efficiency, equity, transparency, and climate-resilient governance.
