11th Arunachal Film Festival to Spotlight Northeast Talent in Three-Day Cinematic Event

Commencing from the 6th of March, the festival at TNZ Cinemas features film screenings, hands-on workshops, competitions, and discussions. It aims at promoting regional storytelling, women’s voices, and emerging filmmakers from Arunachal Pradesh and the Northeast

Itanagar: The 11th Arunachal Film Festival (AFF) will be held from March 6 to 8, bringing together filmmakers, artists, students, and cinema enthusiasts for three days of screenings, workshops, competitions, and discussions. Organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations, Arunachal Pradesh, the festival continues to grow as a vibrant platform for regional storytelling, with a special focus on homegrown talent.

The festival will open on March 6 with a workshop on the fundamentals of animation by Phidi Pulu of Film and Television Institute of India, followed by screenings under the Student Short Film Competition. Sessions will include an “In Conversation” on independent filmmaking by Stenzin Tankong and a Sony cinema camera workshop by Sony India. The inaugural programme will conclude with the opening film, The Little Monk by Nang Tanvi and a Q&A.

March 7 will feature the Short Film Grant Pitch, documentary screenings, and a major panel discussion titled “Rewriting the Narrative: Women Shaping the Future of Cinema,” with noted filmmakers Karry Padu, Nang Tanvi, Bindiya Ete Nalo, and Manju Borah. Several acclaimed regional films will also be screened, many followed by interactive sessions.

On the concluding day, cinematographer Sunny Joseph will conduct a workshop on visual storytelling. Additional screenings and filmmaker interactions will precede the closing film, Bokshi by Bhargav Saikia, followed by awards and the closing ceremony.

With its emphasis on creativity, inclusivity, and regional voices, the festival promises to inspire the next generation of storytellers while strengthening Arunachal Pradesh’s cinematic landscape.
